Bigfoot sightings are common around the world, but recent encounters in Southern Oklahoma have caused quite a stir. Beginning in the 1800s, there have been many reports in southern Oklahoma of a large beast that walks upright and can "break the necks" of deer with it's bare hands. Apparently, in 1970, students from Tahalina High School were travelling down Green Hill road and stopped to "relieve" themselves. They encountered the beast and the legend of the Green Hill monster grew. The local sheriff at the time discovered several dead deer in the area with their necks snapped, and was so disturbed by what he found that he closed the area for several days.
According to the Big Foot field research organization, there have been sightings in 19 different Oklahoma Counties. Most of the sightings come from southeast Oklahoma. But, there were two reported sightings in central Oklahoma: one at Lake Thunderbird in 1995 and one at Edmond’s Hafer Park back in 1982. Several Big Foot investigators have been gathering information and searching these counties for any sign of the beast.
